The fruit of our passion: a pure source of health

Olive trees have always been prevalent in the Maremma landscape. Traces of olive groves date back to ancient times: in the archaic period, the lands of Etruria were characterised by large plantings of olive trees.

The history of Poggio Cavallo follows suit: records of this centuries-old activity found in the ancient maps kept at the farm show that many of these precious trees were present as early as the nineteenth century. In the past century, the estate housed an oil mill that remained in operation until the 1980s.

At present, the nearly 47-acre planting has over 4,200 trees, between the Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino varieties.

In 2017, the extra virgin olive oil of the Poggio Cavallo Estate obtained the Tuscan PGI certification, a quality mark certifying that the product is obtained from our crops and guarantees that you are buying a product unique in origin and quality.

To celebrate this achievement, we revamped our label with two symbols of our estate engraved gold foil: its ancient water fountain and centuries-old cypresses.
